Grown at 600m in the finest tea growing region of Uji, Kyoto, this Organic Hojicha is a charcoal roasted Sencha green tea. The Sencha tea leaves are traditionally roasted quickly in a porcelain pot over a high heat in order to avoid burning the leaves and locking in a caramelized, sweet flavour.
The flavours are very similar to that of a lightly roasted coffee but with a far lower tannic quality and a very low caffeine content. The roasting process burns off a lot of the caffeine which is why Hojicha is often enjoyed in the evenings.Tasting Notes: Chestnuts, Coffee, Caramel
